How do fat dissolving treatments work?
​​
The active ingredient in fat dissolving treatments occurs naturally in the body where it helps to break down dietary fat. When injected below the chin, it reduces fat, resulting in a more contoured neck profile and jawline.

As it is a prescription-only medicine, fat dissolving treatment is only available from a Cosmetic Physician such as Dr Herbert Hooi.

What happens during a fat dissolving treatment?

The fat dissolving treatment will be completed by Dr Hooi at Territory Laser Clinic and should take approximately 15-20 minutes. Dr Hooi will customise the treatment to your individual anatomy and circumstances. The procedure is a non-surgical treatment. Once your desired results are achieved, re-treatment is not expected as results are maintained for at least 4 years.

What results should I expect?

Many people treated with fat dissolving treatments experienced visible improvement in the appearance of their chin profile in 2-4 treatments. Up to 6 treatments may be administered, spaced at least 4 weeks apart.

What does treatment involve?
​
Fat dissolving treatments are typically given in a 15-20 minute clinic treatment session. Dr Hooi will administer a series of injections into the area under your chin at each session.

How many treatments will I need?
​
Many patients treated with fat dissolving treatments experience visible improvement of their chin profile in 2-4 treatments. Some people require up to 6 treatments in order to achieve their best results. Once your desired results are achieved, additional treatments may not be needed as results are maintained for at least 4 years.

Are there any side effects?
​
As with other treatments, you may experience side effects with fat dissolving treatments. Most patients experience mild or moderate pain or discomfort at the time of injection.
​
Tell Dr Hooi if you notice any of the following: bruising, pain, numbness, swelling, redness, tingling, formation of small areas of hardness, or itching around the treatment area.
​
While unlikely, talk to Dr Hooi if you experience any of the following: trouble swallowing, an uneven smile, taste disturbances, or discolouration, unusual hair loss or an ulcer (open sore) at the site of injection.
​
What can I expect during treatment?
​
Prior to administering fat dissolving treatments, Dr Hooi will apply topical and/or injectable local anaesthesia to the treatment area to make you more comfortable. Dr Hooi may also suggest that you take an over-the-counter pain medication before your appointment.
